Best way to spend £300 (other than beer, drugs and women)

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Postby The Gilly on Mon Sep 10, 2001 6:23 am

So what would you do? Basically I have this money to spend on the ENGINE.

At the moment it stands at:

K&N
Dump Valve
Samco's
Standard zorst
everything else standard

Oh and I really only have £300. Looking for ponies per pound as I have a track day on the 22nd.

yea mehinks this would unleash more horses for the money, dunno how much a chip costs but they give bigish increases as well, bar bolting on a turbo but you'll need to add another 0 to the 300 to do that i reckon

Recognition of Magnex quality is endorsed by Aston Martin and TVR sports cars who rely on Magnex expertise for their original equipment exhausts. If you have followed one of these machines you will have heard enough already!

In the split second world of motor sport, top touring car and rally teams come to Magnex to get their wheels spinning.

Everybody knows however, there is no smoke without fire. Each new Magnex product undergoes intensive research and development to achieve your exacting requirements. Magnex understands what is required by the demanding high performance driver. It presents a range of silencers, systems and manifolds for todays sporty hatchback and saloons direct from Magnex or through a nationwide network of dealers and fitting centres.

TBH you *might* be better taking it down a decent torbo'd Ford tuners and getting them to check you engine over - if it's going for a track day you'll be wanting to know it's in good condition, and they'll probably also be able to tell you what's best for the engine.

Oh, and a Kent or Piper turbo cam kit will give more power than a free flow exhaust without taking the head off but for the best gains hop in there and grind your exhaust ports out.

Powerflow do make rather fit systems. Go for a 2.5" bore from the downpipe back with two of the largest boxes you can fit under it. At the last box, have the pipe running into it angled at around 10 degrees to give it a verrrrry nice growl. Remove centre box as required

After all that I'd honestly say that in my opinion a chip is the best thing to get with sort of money.

IMO that is!
