Bigger throttle body on a FRST.... any gains ???
Hi,
On a dutch Ford Forum the subject: "Bigger throttle bodies" is a hot item at the moment.
- Will a bigger throttle body have any gains for a FRST (top rev?? )
- What Throttle bodies to use.. and what NOT to use ??
- Any other changes to make ??

Isn't the inlet manifold is more of a restriction?
The 130ps Zetec throttle body is around the same size but the inlet port diameters are a lot larger on the Zetec.
Anyway, for the turbo CVH engines, I don't think the throttle body is going to be a major problem

Thanx for the reply, but I'm not asking if it is going to be a problem..
I'm asking if i will gain something (faster revving, faster throttle response etc..)

I doubt just changing the throttle body would make much difference. I wouldnt say the throttle response was slow from the std item anyway. Just make sure the connecting cable and mechanism is clean and given a squirt of oil every so often.

saqmaster :Well, considering a 50mm throttle body on a cossie is good for over 400hp, i dont think you'll see an issue.. and responsiveness is irrelevant really as its forced induction..
forced @ higher RPM .. near atmospherical at lower RPM.. so response is an item

In saying that Kenny has an Escort RS 2000 with a Turbo Conversion, his is running about 340bhp, and the ERS2K Throttle Body is the same as the FRST Item. so actually i think the standard FRST one will be fine

Thanx for the replies..
i think i'll stick with the FRST one..
it's working fine at the mo.. and no need to replace it for an item which might give some trouble
