MarkRS2K :nice, bit of a jump from standard'ish frst power
Yes mate
MixonFRST :Ok ta, will see if I can polish it up first. I'm not even sure where half of those decals are meant to go Its the red and white asbestos warning one I want mainly. Might see about some dealer plates, the ones in the early pages of these thread look spot on.
# 1 x Asbestos decal - goes on the passenger side of the slam panel
# 1 x Oil filler cap decal - oil cap
# 1 x Rocker cover decal - in the recess on the rocker cover
# 1 x 50% 50% decal - header tank
# 1 x Light alignment decal - drivers side of the slam panel
# 1 x OK for shipment decal - top of the cam pulley cover
# 1 x OK hot test decal - side of pulley cover
Dealerplates from kia2000@btinternet.com and the sevice is next day, he will make the plate and email you a picture before making it to confirm it's what you want, i always get blue text as standard but the rear doesn't show up blue but the front is the most important.
Starting to get the engine bay sorted, fitted the new vin plates and decal set and the roose hoses.
I'm not 100% sure on what to do with my blue rocker, i have thought about getting the inlet, strut tops, strut brace and other little bits in silver and finish off with the rest of the hoses in the standard blue, or shall i keep the standard red rocker cover??

Re: Sierra Cosworth - Engine bay update
Cheers for the decals location info, Shaun said you would know Wont be able to use most of them due to having alloy or polished replacement parts.
Have you got any pics of the rear reg plate so I can see what the blue text looks like?
Engine bay looks cracking, cant wait to get to work on mine.

Not 100% sure mate, i hear where having a stand their so i'll see what shift i'm on mate.
Slight Update on the engine side of things
Visit to MSD turned out to be good and bad.
According to the guy down there the block seems a solid/reliable build and was producing good power for the standard boost and now the car drives lovely.
Issues with the car to start with were various air leaks which were sorted, needed a new rotor arm, cps lead/sensor, fuel regulator & actuator. After all this was fitted they were still struggling to find the target of 26psi peak and were only able to retrieve 21psi peak holding 17psi. This is suspected to be caused by cracks around the wastegate penny so i've got two options:
1) find a replacement exhaust housing .55 or .63
2) wait until the end of summer and fund a roller bearing T34
The other issue was the battery was giving out 14v and the fuel pump receiving only 11.5v so a new lead is to be wired in as they advised the car be kept under 6k.
Thats about it for the moment, more updates soon

Re: Sierra Cosworth - MSD set-up - update
Such a lovely car, and the amount you do to improve your cars is impressive!
One small thing though - These dealer plates you have made; is it just how they're done, or have you choosen to have the new style lettering? (At least that's what it looks like from here ) I would have thought you would have gone for the old style lettering (if you do have a choice) for that genuine authenticity.
Not being picky at all, as I prefer the new style lettering, but just curious

I'm not really clued up on different types of lettering mate, i know loads of the S1 lads go on about it but it hasn't really bothered me.

That's the thing though, they do look really good anyway. I've got a couple of old style plates in my room and I really dislike the lettering now

Re: Sierra Cosworth - interior stripped and refitted
Right i've been playing around with the interior, i completely stripped it out, cleaned and replaced along with a few other new parts.
The seat is the drivers position is my spare passenger seat thats in near concours condition, the drivers seat is stored away to keep mint.
The steering wheel that came out of the car had tatty leather so i've replaced with my new 3 spoke RS wheel
The standard head unit has been replaced with a nice new Ipod ready JVC unit and a set of new rsoc mats to keep the carpet in mint condition.
A few more of the car with more cleaning under the bonnet and the outside, the paint on the car isn't perfect and it's going back for another polish but i had to remove the first lot of swirl marks from the first polish, i hate cleaning/polishing cars

I love it, looks fantastic
The font used on numberplates is called "Charles Wright" - the old style font is simply referred to as "Charles Wright, pre-2001"
You have to ask for it in most places as it's not advertised.

I love the work you have done to this sierra
keep the rocker cover original. i even think the samcos should be taken off for originals ....
Every car you get hold of turns out mint. It needs a brake fluid reservoir. I bet they no longer available

Cheers Clark,
The blue cover is going on as i've done the mod for the bailey breather system and i'm going to refurb the original cover and store it away.
I really do want another reservoir to replace the one there at the minute but i need a heat shield to cover that area first. As for the hoses it's a bit of an arse mate as the the car has a Pace 500 cooler and a T35, so it has to have hybrid hoses to fit all these different parts and roose are the only company that do them and i needed one quick before it's setup and they only had blue, so every new hose now will be blue, i would have preferred the black items as they look so fresh in the bay.

Re: Sierra Cosworth - Interior resto
fair point with the hoses there chris. Ive just been obsessed lately with standardness
Im even considering removing my black samcos and seeking out some original hoses. But a T3 isnt very standard on a fiesta
Love the sierra
Expect puddle of my drool next to it at Ford fair.

Re: Sierra Cosworth - Interior resto
Right slight update
The cars back in the paintshop having some finishing touches, inside the door shuts weren't the best so they have been taken back and repainted along with the rear panel where a small dent above the numberplate that was only noticeable fully once the car was painted. The car has been flat and polished so it's finally looking awesome
Few pictures as it stands, I'll have new pictures later in the week when the cars been hand cleaned, polished and detailed ready for Croft on Sunday
