yer ive only ever seen sheady get over 505 on a gt30 max they hit was about 540 but thats wringing the neck out the turbo, im gonna use one between a borg warner 200-300 to give me about 580 with great pickup better than a gt30.
having my manifold modded as we speak and the new exhaust made.

Around the 500 is enough at the minute as like yourself you come across issues that cost £££'s to get the extra power
I need a rear beam and a full geometry setup and a new set of wheels and 888's before i'm happy to move on to other steps especially with only having the rear wheels driving - looking at a supra diff rear end setup using the Turbosystems beam design.
I take it the BW is better than the GTX series then Adam?? not really looked in to either really for reasons above

Their ok - only covered 2000 miles so still working fine, i think GAZ supply them with wrong Ib springs so it's something i need to look in to.

for now the sx turbos work the others have issues , so for now these are best! your right tho a 3.5'' exhaust, bigger turbo and cooler are needed for 500+ i'm just doing mine on the cheap myself hence its taking so long!

I was going for a GTX but advised to leave them alone by Harvey (he's mapping my ZT built by Ian H). They apparently suffer with surge.

As above BW seems to be where a few are going at the min - i think when his GT packs up i'll go that route

Re: Black 3dr Cosworth - New engine built
I haven't been on here fr ages and thought i'd updated this thread but haven't
From the last time the motor is in and the whole underside is restored -
motor dropped in
Underside work - to date
It needed a little underside restoration - a brief post of what I've done
Well it's been a few months and although the car was supposed to have been on the road it didn't quiet make it after inspection at the bodyshop.
The underside was something i wanted to restore at some point but i didn't plan nor financially plan for the present but after inspection was needed now rather than later so here's the work that's been done. I'll let the pictures do the talking - the underside isn't overly bad at all considering it's 26 years old and a Ford [:D]
The pic quality isn't the best but you get the idea of what it was like to what it is now
Jacking outriggers
Thats the start [cry]
Right now the preparation work starts
Sanded and rust treated
new rack
powdercoated parts
stripped shafts
underside coated black
tank prep'd and painted
replacement system
Built up
Brakes painted and yellow lettering redone
Back down on it's wheels and dust washed off
Put back on the ramp
Rear wheels a little wide
Coupe of weeks later and the kit fitted and dusty again - looks like a barn find after a decade
All cleaned again and back down on the floor - rear wheels look odd but it's due to the camber shims/ rear end not settling
Wide rears
Another set of rims for using for running in and mapping whilst on the RR etc so it doesn't suffer from rubbing
8X17 ET35 front and ET25 rear
Thats it for now - just need to get a 12 month ticket on it and let the running in commence

Great update Chris, amazing work too, looks so much better now underneath. I bet you are pleased having gone through everything now, you must know the car inside out. I saw on PF that you had some teething problems?
Also, I don't know if you saw my advert but I sold my fiesta now, (you sent me some HT clips FOC a while back) due to my move to Australia. Your car has inspired me to probably get one of these next and ship it out.
Anyway, good luck with the rest, looking forward to more updates.

FRSJON :love your work chris
Cheers Jon
jayrs :stunning mate
did you weld any of the bits?
Jacking overriders drilled out and reshaped, couple of little plates, one being where the sunroof pipe had come off behind rear quarter & Sills mate, you know me if it's got any signs it's cut out - originality to me is boll@ocks if it's gone it's gone get new metal in there - i'm sure your the same Jay, although i will say i really am glad the front wings are fine as thats something i don't want to replace due to lines. But in general these aren't that bad it's only in area's that have had strain etc like jacking area's and traps - you have to watch behind the sealer under the arches and around the strut tops but all were fine and treated before coated.

Cheers fella, i don't think you'll loose any money on it mate as they are sought after down under
