Black or alloy rad? That is the question

Postby BOBFRST on Thu Feb 08, 2018 12:06 am

Hey there guys & girls. Just a quickie to see if anyone can shed a bit of light on whether it is more beneficial to use a black finished radiator or the plain alloy finish, im not fussed on appearance & my front mount intercooler is already black im just worried about which is best at dissipating heat? Black or alloy? My guess is black but as it absorbs heat so well I aint so sure, need you guys to keep me right :D

Alloy will reflect the light into the review mirror of whoever you are racing, causing temporary blindness and giving you the ability to overtake. This advantage far outweighs any loss or gain associated with heat dissipation

However I'd take a punt at black being the best, there has to be a reason other than just corrosion protection via e-coat as to why OEM's typically go black.
