blue smoke...

Problem or technical question?

blue smoke...

Postby craigy1989 on Fri Apr 26, 2013 1:08 pm

Hi people,
first off I'm new here and to frst's.
I have bought a rst sleeper, and driving it home problems occurred... anyway...
I got home and it had a monumental oil leak, looked like it was coming from the crankseal (gearbox side)
Stripped it down, and found the previous owner had put the sump shims inbetween the sump gasket and the block...WTF!
So it was nowhere near sealed, so they used silicone to bodge it up.. I took the engine out for this, changed head gasket and clutch, put it back together and now its blowing blue smoke on idle and when revving, going to change stem seals, is there anything else to check other than rings? Trying not to think about rings yet! Spark plugs are sooted up, but dry, no wet in cylinders..
Anyway all advice is much appreciated
Cheers Craig
