Blueprinting......

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Postby andymac on Thu Oct 25, 2001 2:02 pm

I'm thinking of having the engine in my 1.6 Si blueprinted - anyone ever done this / had this done ? Also wondered about having cylinder head gas flowed - but would that count as modding from standard (i.e. away from blueprints) or returning the engine to how it should be ?

Any thoughts anyone ? I was looking to specialised engines to do the work - but they are quite a distance away. I'd like to know if there's anyone further north (I'm in Sheffield) who is known to be sound and will do the work. Any ideas ?

If its a zetec, don`t bother. It will be cheaper to stick a bigger engine in it than tune the 1600 zetec and you still won`t have more power. Power engineering are pretty much the best at this(blueprinting), seem to get good power gains. Flowing a head counts as modifying it. Blueprinting is modifying it aswell as you gain bhp..

Yeah but by blueprinting it it's being brought exactly to standard innit. Insurance scum can't really claim it's been modded away from standard then - well they can try....!

Do you eva come onto MSM snake ?

Oh, I ought to say I can't swap or really mod the engine 'cos I can't get insured. Believe me, I've tried.......

If you are gaining bhp then you are modifying it. They will never know the engine has been blueprinted, its all internal mods+bits you cannot see.. Bhp is what insurers go on if you modify it..

Only for the search engine :???:

tHE 1600 ZETECH ARE NO GOOD TO TUNE, COMPARED TO THE 1.8 OR 2.0, AND ALSO ITS IS NOT ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO GAS FLOW AS YOU CAN LOSE POWER DUE TO AMOUNT OF FUEL/AIR MIX OR SOME SH*T!!!.....MURPH!

forget the 1600 for a start and get an 18 or 2000

blueprinting is an absolute waste of money for the road, especially on the zetec as its not too bad inside.

Save your money and spend it on the head which is where the real restriction lies, keep the standard cam(s) too

just a little secret 2.0 mundano cams are wilder than vaux 2.0!!! which produce 20 brake more this is due to serious flow restrictions in the zetec head. do not dive into your head with a grinder they are ladies front bottys to flow and you do need experience and knowledge (and a flow bench) to gain results.
