boost levels?

Postby penfoldian on Fri Nov 21, 2003 12:15 pm

ok, is this safe?

in first gear my boost gauge reads 0.7
2nd = 0.8
3rd = 0.8
4th = 0.9
5th = 1.0 to 1.25 ish

i thought it stays at 0.7 for all gears?

It's only safe if your fuelling can cope with that boost.

How old is your actuator ??

Hmm, I thought max boost would have been achievable in every gear?

Why would going to 5th give more boost when the revs are likely to be lowest :-?

Well it must be old cause it was never working! i started getting proper boost when i put the bleedvalve in.
so thats what is causing it, plus since the boost has been up, it has been tearing the car apart, the alternator needed tighting and my black carb thing that plugs into the EFI popped out and also, the pipe that goes into the dump valve tore all in the space of 2 days! MADNESSS!!!

Do you know if the car is chipped or not.

Standard should be about 0.5 bar, that's 8psi.

Is your ECU chipped at all. As standard the FRST runs about 0.5 bar.
At the higher gears you are doubling this!! Aren't you hitting the boost protection limit?
