Braided hoses - MOT failure?

Postby wyll_2k on Tue Mar 15, 2005 4:44 pm

Pretty soon i'll be getting a cossie brake setup put on me mk3.5 - Asked me mechanic about getting braided hoses at the same time. He said he'll find out, but wasn't sure if they would pass an MOT - Is it true :-?

Also 4rt I may aswell ask on here at the same time - If I do look for braided hoses, should i get ones for a Mk3 Fiesta, or the vehicle model they came off?

cheers all!

If you're running just the front discs and calipers from a Cossie (Sapphire 4x4 I presume?) then you'll be able to fit them up using the mk3 Fiesta hoses (standard or otherwise). The union to the calipers is the same as the normal Fiesta calipers (well - they are on the FRST anyway).

Braided hoses most certainly are not an MOT failure - they are more effective and less likely to bulge compared to the standard rubber hoses! My car passed it's MOT without any problems and I'm using braided hoses myself.

yer the cossie calipers are off a sapph cossie. Got me MOT next month, so will get it all done at the same time. Only getting the front brakes converted, but a lot of kits come with leads for the back aswell, so would the go on the rear drums as a str8 swap aswell?

Yeah - the Goodridge hose set for your particular car will sort you out front and back whilst still working with the Sapphire Cossie calipers.

You'll feel an improvement in the brake pedal when you get it done as well! :D

ah, i was looking at those ones. They have zinc and SS fittings - what should i go for? They're about £70 :o

So i can get them all put on (a kit for a mk3 fiesta) and the MOT should go thru fine yer?
