Brake pads and discs

Postby beanyfrst on Sat Jan 08, 2005 2:31 pm

Ok people i am now lead to beleive that 2wd cossie calipers will not go on a FRST. So can anyone recommend some good brake discs and pads that i could go for instead of the cossie setup i was planning. I also need them to fit the original calipers from a frst and i will be running escort GTi wheels(15"s) i want to get the most out of the brake perfomance if possible any ideas. one other thing will focus st170 discs go on (if so do they just bolt on or do they need machineing)

Thanks and kind Regards Beanyfrst :D

focus st170 discs and calipers will go straight on mate if im not mistaken however im sure you will need to change the calipers also and your rims!

however, the Cossie setup will work on your car but you will need to use the 4x4 discs (again am unsure whether original calipers can be used or not)

I thought that maybe the st170 set up calipers, discs and pads would go behind the escort GTi rims. What size discs are used on the st170 please 280mm are they as im unsure ?

Hi,

Yes, here is another recommendation:
http://www.fiestaturbo.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=92584

These will fit behind the 15" GTi wheels nicely and and are much better than the standard FRST setup in terms of braking force.

The Cossie 4x4 would NOT go on with GTi wheels as the calipers would catch the spoke, unless you put around 4mm wheel spacers on, but in that case your wheels would stick out too far - or so I am told.
