brake upgrade

Postby MK4 Rick on Fri Jun 09, 2006 9:16 pm

just took my tsw venoms off my h reg 2i and stuck the original 2i wheels on 13inch.can i fit bigger brakes to the 13 inch wheels or should i fit cross drilled discs and pads.are they any good and what are the best discs to get and pads.what do u think about braided hoses?.the reason for me changing back to my old wheels is because im gonna turbo the fiesta and dont want the car to stand out to much.

If you are going to turbo your Fiesta I would strongly recomend a swap to some subtle 15's if you don't want the car to stand out. Standard 2i brakes are ok and will cope ok (not well) with some track action with a carefully chosen disc and pad combo. However with a turbo in there you are at 130bhp before you start and as such I would highly recomend a change to 4x4 Cossie brakes.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

If you really want to stick with 13" wheels but will be going down the turbo route, your best bet would be to speak to someone like Rally Design about a bespoke package utilising Wilwood four pot calipers and something like 240mm discs.
