Brakes grinding!

Postby XR2i-Fiesta- on Wed Oct 18, 2006 11:34 am

Just went out in the Fiesta this morning and noticed a grinding noise coming from the passenger side wheel, at first I thought it might of been a wheel bearing, but when I had a look at the brake disc through the alloy it looks like its has been scratched around the otter edge of the disc, is it possible that a stone or loose road chippings might have got caught in the calipers? also I cant get my b*****d lock nut off :x is anything gunna go right this morning?

Yep, stones can get thrown in and embedded in pads then grind away at the disc. Get the wheel off (good luck with the nut!) and inspect the disc and brake pads more closely.

just got into it!

looks like the discs and pads are ok!

I pretty certain its the wheel bearing  jacked up the front end and the disc and the big nut in the centre all wobble together! thing is tho I tried tightening up the centre nut and it wont tighten?!? could this be worse than a wheel bearing going?

thanks
