Brakes - STOP YE BAST!

ok, i have a 1.3 sx. I think it has the same setup as all the 1's and 1.1's its a 'K' reg with no vented discs and standard pads.
One of my drums is shot and the front pads are dead so i'm having it all replaced, just wondering if i can put greenstuff pads on my front current discs? [ERRR] anything better than standard would suit me! If not what front brakes should i upgrade to? RS turbo vented discs mean new calipers 2 i'm thinking.

The RST discs are good fun on the standard car! Even better get some Zetec-S discs and calipers.
Avoid the greenstuf pads its a much more fun drive on standard stuff

Do zetec-s disks and calipers fit easy on the FRST ? are they 260 mm ? standard frst disks are 239mm, any mods needed to fit them? they would look better behind my 15" wheels, and the disks on the zetec-s don't corrode around the edges where the pads don't touch as they are coated with something that stops corrosion..

Even EBC disks rot round the edges.
I wouldn't trust myself not to contaminate the braking surface with paint
I might try painting some of my caliper enamel-based paint on some though and see what happens - wish me luck
Prit - it tends to vary between wheel shapes but Ade will know a bit more detail

Tom,
Here is what to do
1.
get a pair of Xr2i front calipers from a scrap yard.
2.
Get on to GT tuning!! (i know they r R5 people - but they will help!!) And order a set of THEIR vented grooved disks for an xr2i
3.
go and get a set of greenstuff pads and braided hoses and replace the fluid with castrol super dot4 (better than 5.1 somehow!!)
then u stop on the spot!! bites great!!
HTH

Why does everyone rate the EBC pads so highly? I had a pair of Red Stuff (cossie) pads on my car and I was able to over heat them on the road
I've now changed to paigd pads as when I have the standard FRST brakes these were fitted and worked a dream. Therefore I have FRST callipers (sprayed with red enamal), discs and Pagid pads sitting in my garage. Offers???
Regards,
Stephen
