1. Are you English?

2. Any 90 degree bend at 45mph is going to do that to most cars, not least a Mk3 Fiesta.

3. Why are the garage to blame? What's wrong with the brakes that would make you spin on a corner?

taking a 90 degree angle bend at aprrox 45mph in the rain isnt advisable. maybey its the fact you have slammed on whilst turning hard that your rear brakes locked up and spun you around. what work did the garage do to your car? :)

As Jpex says, I read it that the brakes didnt work so didnt have much choice but to take it at 45mph?

brakes

Postby RS_-_1800 on Sun Mar 26, 2006 12:53 pm

Yeah I dont think anyone on here would willingly take a corner like that at 45 unless they had to! I.e brake failure.

probs wasnt fully 90degree but was very sharp! and i was very lucky!

anyway was entering stoke poges from slough after hard day working at legoland. national speed limit doing 45-50mph there was them black and white arrow and the word slow written on ground ahead so foot of A and placed on B gently nothing happening push little harder 5meters till 90degree bend shout the word 'SH*T!!!' foot fuly on brake pedal! swing the wheel to the right doing 40-45 (way to fast) lose control feel the back side round and brakes bit little bit do seesaw motion and take foot off to gain control of car but am on wrong side of road heading towards a mk3 oak green golf at 40! swing left back onto myside whilst'trying' to brake and the whole car side slides onto the curb front tire goes, support arm, anti roll arm, steel also buckles. bonce fully onto grass verge sideways! and skid bout 3 -4meters across grass! most scariest fing of my life if i hadnt done safety skid pad trainning down south probs wont be here as the car or the 8foot high brick wall suronding the bend would of bin escort hole shaped. also lowering my car 60mm probs stopped the anitroll bar from flipping me and car wen i left the road!

Sounds like it could be the pedal wasn't pumped after the garage played with the brakes? But you would have noticed that when you first applied the brakes when you left the garage.

Maybe there wasn't enough fluid in them or they hadn't made a connection properly and the fluid leaked ???

this may have been the cause and would explain why it wasn't noticed for a while
