Braking help
Braking in my GF XR2i 1.6 cvh with abs ..... seems like the engine off when I brake dosnt feels like its will stop I checked the brake fuild thats topped up .... has anyone got any ideas in what it could be wrong the pads may be a bit thin but havent heard any grinding when I brake

Is the servo working properly? Pump the brakes hard with the engine off and hold the pedal down whilst starting the car, pedal should sink.
Low pads and air in the brake lines could cause issues, new pads and bleed the system would be the first things to check. ABS on the Fiesta is rather poor anyway so the pedal feel isn't as great as those without it.

Thank you Tweek .... yep tried pumping the brake with the engine off seems to be okay the pedal does sink abit ..... probs needs new pads and bleeding ..... sooo scary to drive when its like this .... ill try and get to a garage tommorrow to have a look

How would the fluid be "fooobared?" You'd have fluid loss before degradation. Dot 5.1 in a normal road Fiesta will make no difference whatsoever so save your money and stick with dot-4HCS PIMP :the fluid would be fooobared change it for 5.1 from halfords other than that get someone to break and check the pipes for bulging it happens
Only point I do sort of agree with here is about the flexi-hoses. Old rubber hoses expand too much as they get old so the fluid pushes the hose out rather than the piston. If after checking your hoses you feel the need to replace them, maybe look at getting stainless braided hoses for that extra sharpness

thanks for the feedback peeps got it back find out it was the brake senor £200 all done stops like a dream now .... even tighten up the abs bands had the the abs light flicking for ages ......
