Re: Build a stealth shelf
By 2 10" do you mean subs? If so this probably isn't a good idea at all if they're not designed to work in the open. You really should have them in boxes otherwise there's no resistance to their moving and they wont respond as they should and will sound awful.
I also wouldn't recommend 6x9's in a system with subs, as the only thing they can be useful for is adding extra bass to systems without.
It's not hard to make a stealth shelf though. Use 20mm MDF and your old parcel shelf as a template. You may want to use some extra MDF as shaped supports for your speakers, to double the thickness where they attach if you get what I mean. I'd recommend spray glue to stick the carpet on. You'll need some dowel or something similar, or maybe the things off your original shelf to attach it at the back. Do a google image search for some ideas and also do a web search there for guides too.

Re: Build a stealth shelf
Thanks
firstly i got the idea of subs on parcel shelf when i went to a sound show and saw 2 15" subs in a stealth shelf with 6x9's professionally done by vibe in a focus.
it looked and sounded awsome from then on iv been looking for the best way to do this.
i also do not have original shelf i was planning to make one just out of mdf the thing i needed to know is the sub will be air tight on the shelf but will i need a box under the sub for extra resistance or will shelf just be enough.

If the sub is designed to go in a box you'll need a box. If it's a free-air model you wont.
