By-passing the PATS

Postby RacingMick on Wed Nov 14, 2007 7:20 pm

As some of you may know, I use my Mk3.5 1.6 Si for competition use. As a weight reduction programme and to have less things go wrong, I have been removing all the unwanted electrical cables/wires i.e speakers, central locking, window motors etc I also want to remove all the PATS related wiring, question is can this be done? Can I by-pass the PATS? All positive help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Mick

Here's a thought. If a new user went onto a forum and starting asking on a public forum how to by-pass a security device that keeps a lot of the regular users cars sat on their drive at night, how do you think the response would go?

:-?
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.

I totally understand what you are saying Ollybee, I should have said e-mail me, at least hat would not publicise it. I open to ideas as to how to go about getting the information fully aware that it is a sensitive topic.

you wont get it on here as people want to keep hold of their cars. pats is the last line of defense for most cars on this forum and it would be insane for someone to disclose that information, in private or in public.

actually you want to know? cut out every piece of wiring and start from scratch and rewire the whole car without the pats system. thats all the info your getting from me at any rate.

Was thinking of doing my own loom with just want i want on it lights, ignition etc as the PATS module has 30 odd brown wires going in/out of it (for security reasons of course). Does the PATS affect th ECU in anyway? Cheers Mick

It has an external PATS module. All help greatly received, as my car is looking a right mess with the dash off & the loom strung out across the foot wells. Also, I want to remove the ignition/key barrel & fit toggle switches for the ignition & fuel pump with a push to start button, any ideas how to go about doing it? Cheers Mick

Right, I am having a bloody nightmare working with the PATS to get my competition car up to spec. Could I get round not having the PATS by using a loom from an XR2i? What ECU would I have to use? Cheers Mick

What if you source a universal Kit-car loom and use that, and adjust it to suit your car?
