does my engine have the oil jets for the pistons?

can u tel lfrom the outside, its a 1.8 from a mondeo, it is the 2nd generation one that shouldn suffer from sticky valves etc

any ideas?

you can only tell by taking the sump off and having a look !

thxs criag, but i have only just fitted sump again, dont wanna take it all off :-( did ford do em as standard after a certain date, did the mondy 115bhp models have em?? i know the 2.0L did from the start.

no not all 1800 had them i know PhilM has not got them in his ZVH and his was from a mondeo !

the engine you see is a fiesta RS 1800 block genuine 130 ps :Q i thought chum might like that lol

defo no way of telling from externally??

i know it cools the pistons, but what symptons were found b4 they used oil jets?

frasier im sorry not sure dont think u can tel externally ! from wot u said sound like u got a series 2 zetec ! this is a series one FRS1800 bottom end. thinking logically or not if they were used to help where a flaw was found i would have thought u may have them.

zetec cranks are considerably larger than CVH, also here are pistons, oil pump (notice the angled oil filter face means its fiesta :Q ) and the rear crankshaft main oil seal housing

this was my last engine project which i abandoned and sold the engine which is now going into a car featured last month in one of the ford mags :wink: but do not fear i have another project on the go

only 1.8 130ps and 2.0 had oil jet sprays. easy enough job to convet though
