to free up one wire, basicaly there are 2 wires going to the speaker and i need one, so can keep the positive to the speaker, and put the negative to a ring terminal and bolt it down to something inside the door?

My alt only connects to the positive.. and it was the same on my last zetec, it may earth through the mount but seeing as the housing is alloy...?

im gonna test accross the earths tomorow for resistance if there isnt it should be alright, and pending feedback/noise as youve suggested i might just end up doing this.

Basicaly i need to have 2 wires spare in the door for a little something im up to... i have gone to the lenghts of replacing the 4 wire motors with 2 wire to gain 2 spare but like a plonker i forgot theres a common earth in the door for the illumination, windows and central locking, so its not possible to use both.. only one.

I could add extra wires in.. but for the cost of getting the electric pack loom and one door loom as donors.. its not worth it.. unless i got electric mirrors.

hence why i want to use what would be the speaker earth as my extra wire, and earth the speaker through the door.

Well ill find out tomorow maybe, 2-10 shift sucks :(

So will there be no - from headunit?

I thought speakers needed both a + and - signal, hence they go out of phase when these are muddled up. Would it not be easier just to run new speaker cable? Don't see whey you'd new a new loom...
