Can't get these pee'ing door panels off (mk4)

On the driver and passenger side doors, at the bottom theres 2 black 'screws' holding them in place. I got a flathead under there and tried yanking it out but I don't want to eternally damage them so they won't fit back on.

Is this the only way of removing em?

Yep you'll need to give it a bit of a yank.

you need to take the door pulls off, theres a screw in the back of the pods for them

That goes without saying. Get yourself a Haynes Manual if you don't already have one.
