Carbonboy67 :Anymore news or are we just waiting for the numbers to be made up.

:D

I was wondering when someone was gonna ask so I e-mailed him last night shaun asking how they were getting on, although there's nothing in my inbox as yet. That said, my last correspondence he did say he would be in touch when they've completed it. They've only had the rack since just before the easter break and their draftsman needed to draw it all up first.

Patience my children :P

I'm off to Cyprus tomorrow for 2 weeks with work. Limited net access so bare with me peeps

Jay, no drama mate.

If this kit will retro fit into a 'standard' non-FRST rack I will definitely have one please. Please let me know asap and I may have some others interested.

Cheers

Dave:)

Guys, latest from Quaife including confirmed prices, see below:

quaife :Dear Chris,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We have stripped the steering rack and after careful examination we can offer the following prices:

10 off £150.00 + VAT
20 off £125.00 + VAT
30 off £105.00 + VAT

We require a 25% deposit to manufacture your required batch run.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Peter Drake

So, in summary if you want it for £125 + VAT we need 20 people. Which, to be honest is probably pushing it. 30 people at £105 would be mega though :D

Are people still in if we only have 10 people at £150 + VAT. I certainly am. It would be a shame to have come this far and abandon it.

I need to know before the weekend really so i can start on the next stage, ie getting you lot to put down the 25%.

20 people, £143.75 plus delivery

Jay - I'll ask. I doubt very much that it will include tooling though.

In the meantime though, shall we assume that a. the price we have is for the kit only and b. delivery is going to be in addition to the VAT inclusive prices Jay has kindly worked out for us. I would assume also that delivery would be to the individuals, unless of course you can collect in person. As its a kit, i can't see it being much more than a tenner for shipping.

I will also ask if the 25% is gonna be made payable individually, or as a whole. I would prefer individual. On that, my final assumption is that when we get final numbers, or at least 10 to start then i will get all your real names and contact details, pass them on to Quaife and people can make their own orders.

Trying to keep it as simple as possible.

If you are 100% up for this then send me a PM with your real name and contact details (e-mail & Mob). I will populate a final list on post 1. Once it gets to 10 we will go from there.

Work with me people, i really want this to go through

Sorry for the delay guys, I'm in Cyprus at the moment and internet is limited.

Have an update from Quaife again.

Quaife :
Dear Chris,

The prices quoted do not include shipping.

To confirm an order it would need to be placed under ONE name. Therefore, the co-ordinator of the group has the financial responsibility. Please also note that we will only despatch the steering rack kits to the co-ordinator, not to each individual unless we charge each individual an additional packing charge.

If you would like the kits fitted to donor racks then we can accept them individually and ship back to the owners address at their own cost.

Shipping cost is based on weight.

For example:
Next day delivery for one kit costs £10.00 + VAT
Next day delivery for ten kits costs £18.00 + VAT

Unfortunately I do not know the weight of a complete steering rack at this moment in time.

To proceed you would need to place your order in writing and we would require a 25% deposit before any work can commence.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Peter Drake

Seems i need to take 25% from each of you then pay it from one card in my name (approx £400). Then have them all shipped to one address. I would like to have kept it simple but simplicity seems to be by their terms not mine

It's a lot of responsibility which believe you me, i am more than capable of handling. All depends on you guys really ??? I have a spare account which i'm, happy for you guys to either bank transfer or send a cheque. I need 10 people minimum, all in or not at all.

I won't be able to do anything again now until Sunday at least, I'll be back in UK then. Will post again then. Only have 4 people so far :(

im still interested i just have stupid problem with a crank sensor at the mo' and im trying to keep the money there until its fixed and the engine running.also got mapping in a week.

im 90% on it.

i think it would be better if we just put the whole amount into your bank account and you sort out the 25%.
and about shipping we either meet up at a show or you will have to ship them out to us.obviously we'll pay for shipping.

The quick rack is something that really appeals to me and I would be willing to pay a little more if we cant make the required numbers to get the 10 needed. I know they're expensive compared to a standard rack but its gonna make the Fiesta steer significantly better than what we've got at the moment if a little heavy when parking. I've already pulled out my old set of dumb bells and training my biceps in anticipation :). It would be a hell of a shame if we miss out on a product like this.

Come on guys, lets get this sorted :)

I really want one of these, but just not got the money at the moment.

Could we not get a tuner/trader on board to buy up the remaining numbers needed to make it happen to then sell on?

Also once the first batch are made will it be added to the Quaife catalogue as it were so that indivual racks can be ordered directly at a later date?

Right guys, I'm pretty dissapointed with the interest now :( .

So, I've e-mailed Quaife and asked for a price for 5. I still want one and i know a couple of you are committed so we'll try with that first.

Update soon and we'll get this on the road. I'm not giving up on this yet.

You go to all the trouble and with over 10k members on here you would think 10 would be interested. :(

This will be such an awesome mod. I'm happy to pay a little extra if only 5 gets made mate :)

if you can get 10 or more im more interested, if you cant make 10 people and go with 5 your have to deffo count me out as i just wont have the money to justify it at that cost

Post 1, Page 1 mate. 5 including myself is all that have come to me in the last 10 days. I would love for 20 on the list but it aint happening.

As it stands i can at least personally guarantee that me and shaun are 110% committed. If all else fails then I'll get one each for me, shaun & whoever else at the time and leave it at that.

Shaun - no other forums as yet mate. Not sure where else would be interested. could try FSi.com or Passionford but most of them are on here anyway.

thing is to get that price he would need 30 + people being commited to buying one, and tbh, it aint gunna happen, which is a shame, as i would deffo have one without a problem, but 30 wont come forward i dont think so i guess the list dont exist, the list is being made as it goes.

Project_XR2i_Trackcar

if you let people know how long they got till you need deposit and then how long after that untill the rest of the cash is needed, it might prompt people.
for example, if the kits aint gunna be complete till end of july, and 10 people came up i would have one too, even at that given price, cos i can put a bit aside each payday till its needed.

with house, wife, kids, 2 cars to run etc, £200 outlay just like that for something that "isnt needed" right away or at all tbh makes a dent, if your single, silver spooned, or have very little outlay each month (or savings) then its a bit different, you got that cash to burn.

it would be a shame for this not to happen, and i so badly want to say yes to it, but i cant commit at this point if your expecting all the money within a short time
