Car insurance ££££££!?
Hi, people. I just got myself a Mk fiesta 1.25 zetec but was quoted between £2,500 and £7,100 a year!!!!! More than the car is worth - by far! (and that is without any modifications!) How do you guys afford the insurance, are do you just not declare anything to the robbing g*ts?
I've tried selling the girlfriend on eBay but she wasnt to happy and wouldnt let me weigh her for the post and packaging
Cheers fellas.

You bought a car without getting a quote first? Nice.
I'm guessing your young so you just have to bite the bullet. Try, Elephant, Admiral, Tesco, Norwich Union. They're normally ok. Crap service though

Yea, im 17 and been driving 3 months lol. Im with direct line at the mo on my dads insurance which isnt too expensive for now, but still building up my NCB at the same time.
Problem is that I've spoken to direct line and they say I can't modify my car what so ever untill im at least 25 years old! Thats like 8 years away!

Get a years NCB under your belt and then worry about the mods. You're bound to have the odd altercation with kerbs that jump out as they do when your 17.
Never never never fail to disclose mods to the insurance company. It will come back and bite you hard in the arse if you need to claim.
Being a young driver sucks the big one mate but all you can do is bite the bullet and get on with it. My bro paid £1400 to insure a 1200cc Nova third party

Cheers guys,
So how much do you pay for your insurance? It takes the pee rolling around on my 13 inch wheel trims In the mean time i'll just have to save up my pennies for a while.
I'll be back!

So are they any modifications i can do what so ever without any problems insurance wise? I've sprayed a few bits n pieces in the interior, door handle surrounds, and heaters etc and was looking at a silver dash surround.
These wouldnt give me any problems would they???

A couple of painted up parts won't cause you grief. Sort some sounds and you should be fine. Where th einsurance companies will get arsey is when you start to lower it, put alloys on, fit exhausts and air filters and chip them. Then they get rather upset.

I'm 17 and paying around £1200 on a 1.6 SI with CIS insurance (on my parents policy but no NCB). With CIS they won't charge me any extra for any visual modification- or any modification in fact- unless it alters the BHP of the car.

I just tried liverpool victoria and quoted me £1500
Although the cost of insurance is fudgekin ridiculous, mine's going UP this year with no claims, extra mods etc, all because its insured for "any driver"

I hate you all
fair enough to you blade though, yours is fairly average but a 1.6 Ghia fully comp at 18 with 0 NCB at that price is just amazingly cheap.

if you're with direct line then you should have up to £1000 cover on ice (well i did anyway) so i just packed a load of that in my 205 when i had it.
i'm 20 and now got quotes for when i finish uni for the year and start my placement, down south, can get insured on 200sx 2lt turbo - standard for about £900 and thats with no ncb
but for a frst it was about £850 which shocked me a bit
thats with elephant by the way

i found http://www.quinn-direct.com quite good (an irish compnay)
it was the cheapest i ever found at 17, no NCB, anf just passed test, TPFT here it is
1.6 16v mk3.5 si, value at £800- - 1,700 (no mods)
1.6 XR2I value at £500- 1,900 (no mods)
i am quite crazy at paying these prices but they were the cheapest i found, some ppl were quoting for my 2i over £3,000
lol
or even better go to http://www.confused.com or http://www.moneysupermarket.com and they will search lots of companys. (the addresses may be a lil diffrent, go to google)

liverpool vic is the same as cis in the way that they dont care about visual mods!

You just have to bite the byllet and pay, as someone said above try liverpool victoria they got me thru my first year.
I had a 1.1 fez and all quotes where around £2000 except them who came in at £1400.
Now with a few years no claims I am insuring a saxo VTS at £1200, so things do get better.
