Does your car have ABS?

If so the brake pedal will shake about a bit when the system kicks in.

Otherwise what you are most likely feeling it a warped disc at the front. Change both the discs and the pads. Should only cost £40-50 or so from your local motorfactors for the lot.

Does it grow from a bit of a judder and pulsing through the pedal to harsh shaking, or is it an "on/off" type of thing? If it's the latter, you must be into your ABS. If it's the former, new discs are the most likely cause.

more like the first, kinda like the judder before the car stalls, and it keeps goin till you ease off the break

Let a mechanic take it out for a drive, see what they think.
