Car will not rev.

Problem or technical question?

Car will not rev.

Postby farleyj on Sun Apr 14, 2013 3:00 pm

Frst cuts out as soon as i touch accelerator pedal. At my wits end now. Its all standerd apart from dump valve and s/s exhaust. The wiring loom is abit dodgey but i have tested it with multimeter and everything seems ok and going were it should. Could a faulty fuel regulator cause this problem. Plugs get sooted up fast. Any 1 live in birmingham who knows about these on here??????? Please help because i feel like taking a hammer to tge bloody thing

Could be a number of things, like the TPS, air leak, ISCV etc

thanks for the replys. think i have found the problem. the feul pressure regulator is not letting fuel return to tank. if i pull return pipe off no fuel comes out. pipe is dry as a bone. got a new 1 on the way now. will update if works. thanks again.

Changed fuel regulator. No change. Did google search on map sensor and seem to be getting symptoms of a faulty 1. What i have noticed tho. When car is idleing it bogs down and splutters and will not rev under heavy acceleration but if i remove the positive lead on battery then reconect it the car will rev perfect for a minute or so then goes back to way it was?????????

That's because you basicly reset the ecu and clear the fault.

When it detects the fault again it goes into save mode. Or that what it sounds like to me
