Charge air cooling

Postby MOONDUST FRST on Fri Jan 24, 2003 6:56 pm

Right folks im after some info, ideas and experiences etc. :)
Basically My new engine is gonna be running about 20psi boost on a stage 2 T3, And i cannot make my mind up which charge air cooling system would be best for me  At the moment i have just got a pace intercooler, this is ok now but will need changing soon :D
I have 4 options-

1-Charge cooler
(nice and easy to fit with no struggle for room etc. and decent ACT's :) )

2-Charge cooler+pace intercooler
(A bit of fiddling and pipeworking etc. should get very good ACT's But i dunno what the turbo lag will be like :-? )

3-GRS Intercooler
(Proven excellent ACT's :D but lots of hard work to fit and may fook up looks of me front bumper or totally destroy it when cutting holes out :( )

4-Custom
(2x saph cossie coolers with end caps welded on like the one InS@[ERRR] has :D , Very cheap for me to make personally and mark assures me they give great ACT's   Prob with this cooler is the fitting really as the cooler is 4"'s deep :o )

:-? Thoghts and ideas FT crew :D

NMS Quad Cossie cooler? ;)

Would weigh almost the same as a fiesta  + costing around £800 I don't think it's worth it especially if a custom GRS for almost a quater of the price can hack 450bhp! Also you would need scaffolding to hold it up on a fiesta + a couple of cushions to sit on in order to get your head out of the sun roof to see over the damn thing! -ROTFL!

Custom GRS all the way! Thats what me, Paul Johnson and Ripley use and believe me we are all very happy with our ACT's :)

Give Graham a buzz or visit his website ( http://www.grsmotorsport.co.uk ;) )

Thanks - Sunny.
Do you have any idea what 178.8mph feels like in a Fiesta? 2000 lb of pressure per square inch per second pushing back on your face. It feels like god himself is trying to rip the skin off your skull while someone lands a 747 on your chest.
