clutch pedal advice please mk3

Postby b0yracer on Thu Apr 25, 2013 4:38 pm

my clutch pedal keeps sticking to the floor, mk3 fiesta, no other issues, ive not used car much latley, 1st time it stuck i changed the cable no difference, now ive taken the arm off ( gearbox end) and taken the rubber boot off and sprayed lots of wd40 on the shaft, which seems to have done the trick

but im confused, my clutch pedal, hasnt racheted at all since all this messing and removing cables etc, should it rachet or not???

its got a white plastic knob/screw thing on the pedal, is it a manual adjuster type?? it does have a rachet and pawl too, i dont want to take it to bits as i dont understand how it works

(though all is working fine now so maybe was just seized and doesnt need adjusting, but just curious as how this set up works)

i went to scrap yard and they have 2 mk3 fiesta in but both have a different pedal with out this white knob screw thing on it

cheers dave

If you mean ratchet like the handbrake then no. It should depress to the floor and just come up of its own accord

im refering to the rachet and pawl behind the clutch pedal, i thought after fitting a clutch cable the rachet would click/rachet on the first press or two of the pedal, but mines not moved at all??

cheers dave

i know once adjusted/set in place it shouldnt rachet

it was the clutch arm on the box causing this problem because ive not used the fiesta much, it was seizing up, sorted now and been using it couple of times a week
