I had the 50% increase capacity one (standard replacement) and the fit was terrible on it for a standard replacement part. It would have either meant making brackets for it, cutting the front bumper, or having the radiator sitting pissed.

The front mount *looks* like a better fit, but even that involves cutting i believe.

They are very heavy though, i assume they are made out of steel as opposed to alloy.

It is good value though and I will be considering one shortly myself so i'd appreciate any input on this too!

i very much doubt they are made from steel, maybe copper, butwhat kinda price are they ?
If they are in the same price band as others, why buy one.

If they were made from copper i don't think they would be so cheap lol! Its either chromed mild steel or really really s**t alloy.

£200 for their FMIC and £135 for the double capacity one.

no info on the site, but going by the pics i would say its aluminium or an alloy.
they might be heavy if they are using a heavy gauge material in the construction.

Fitted one to an ERST a little while ago.

Quality is crap. The core is a very cheap one with flat edges instead of rounded ones. Efficiency will be fairly poor.

Not worth having IMO.

Yeah the quality is pretty brasstastic, poor welds etc... i think this is because they are made in China at cost etc...

deff NOT aluminium lol, the double capacity one weighed about 3kg!

Cores seem to be just rad cores which don't really have enough surface area for air to air heat dissapation.

Although it seems they have been tested and work well :S Brammar of here has one on his 3dr.

Another vote for GRS, may have to pay a little more but it's definitely worth it.

Yep i had that one too mate and i had to make brackets. Thing is on there website it tells you that you can fit it in an hour and even leave the bumper on

I was looking for a replacement intercooler for my stage 1 FRST and I was linked to the Air-Tec ones. I wanted a subtle one that didn't require cutting of the bumper as I prefer original looks, but I was aware that through the bonnet/bumper gap the shiney intercooler would be visible and I could live with that. I choose a Double Capacity version for £135. Upon arrival, the qaulity appeared not to be too drastic though im not very clued up on core quality but when fitting it to my car, the brackets were not lined up. The radiator relocating bracket was VERY shoddy and the intercooler bracket was not in line leaving me with a wonky Intercooler and a bracket for the radiator that looks council (No offence council workers). The only good thing (for me?) was that I did not have to remove my bumper and installation only took me just under an hour which I was pleased about. The fitment of the top hose was excellent, and the new bottom hose was of a good qaulity and fitted well to the charge pipe and bottom inlet.
I installed an ACT gauge before the installation of the Intercooler and I was dissapointed that ACT temps were only barely lower- 'Get what you pay for' springs to mind. Still, it was a cheaper option to the pace one, and was delivered prompt too.
I hope this little write up helps people when choosing a new intercooler, I have also included a few pictures to show the intercooler in place and the fitment. Mike.
