Complete Carb Newbie

Postby ju575 on Thu Aug 25, 2005 1:32 am

Well as the title really i am a complete carb newbie...

I am looking to upgrade the Carb on my 1.6s to a set of Twin Carbs..

At the moment the engine is standard but i plan to upgrade the cam and do some headwork at the same time or maybe a few weeks after depending on funds.

What set of carbs would i be best looking for? There are loads of difference Choke sizes ect aswell which doesnt help me with my newbieness

Lastly if anyone could point me in the direction of some articles or sites that i could read up on them it would be much appreciated..

I also hope to do a 1.9CVH conversion in the future if that makes any difference.

Many thanks, Ju :)

Twin Weber 40's!

You are better asking on XR2 forums to be honest, as this lot are mostly EFi.

Look here though

http://www.retrofiesta.co.uk/

Resources on the 1.6 CVH carb. (Which you have) I am looking aty doing this conversion soon, and I'll be running a new cam, and twin carbs.

I'm running twin 40s at the moment, they are DCOEs, but u can also get down drafts which are DCNFs. Not sure what the choke size is, but the guy who tuned them said if you want to upgrade the engine valve size you can upgrade the chokes to 32/33mm.

Basically I bought mine for a good price, got the car running with them on, then took it to a weber guy to get them up, they'll change whats needed and set them up.
