Compomotive wheels???

Postby MattPym on Thu Nov 23, 2006 4:21 pm

It may seem a bit daft to ask but i'd rather be sure...I am look at getting a set of 15" Compomotive MO wheels for my mk3 and wondering what width is the best to go for handling wise........I had seen elsewhere on the site that a 195/45/15 tyre would not effect the outside diameter, requiring an 8 inch wide wheel, But would i have any trouble fitting an 8x15 or would it scrub when i turn??? Hope this makes sense, Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :-?

7J is what you want 8J is too wide. Speak to Reyland as they deal in Compomotives and Martin has forgotten more about correct wheels and handling than most of us will know

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

My 7x15 alloys rub so 8 inch wide ones will be a real bugger to fit. Escort cosworth alloys are 8 inch wide and they require alot of messing about to get them on, and after the car handles like crap.

Your best going for either 7" or 6.5" wide.

My comps have 195, 45, 15 tyres on them, and from fiesta experiance i think a 195 tyre is plenty wide enough, i have coil overs on my FRST and ive had to spacer the wheels out 3mm to avoid the inside of the tyres rubbing on the coil over nut.
