compression ratios
i am rebuilding my rs turbo engine. have just bought some 1mm over bore wossner forged pistons, they tell me that they will come with a commpression ratio of 8.3:1.
they have a thick head on them so can be machined to the right ratio.
what would be a good ratio to go for to get a good reliable 200bhp.
i am also going to be running a t3 turbo, beige injectors, and stage 2 chip, and -31 actuator.

Re: compression ratios
depends if your head has been machined mate as to wether or not machining the pistons is req! 8.2/8.3 would be ok for a good setup i would prob build it to around 8 then strap a t4 on it too!!!

Re: compression ratios
im sure wossner pistons come in 8:1 and 7.5:1 ?
also depends on what management your going to use before you decide on compression

acralite pistons come with many differant compression ratios but wossner come 8.3:1 and can be machined to any ratio you want because of the thick head of the piston.
this is why i am wondering whether to get them machined or to leave them as they are?
and im hoping to get away with not having to buy any management, and to just get away with using the stage 2 chip

Re: compression ratios
You should be fine with a std compression ratio as long as it is set up well,If you do lower it I would not lower it much.

Re: compression ratios
the lower the compressiom, the more sluggish it will be off boost.
what kind of driving do you do ? as if you like corners etc, keep the CR higher, the boost lower and the map more aggressive
