Converting a 1.1 carbed engine to fuel injection???

Postby Owen_watson_1.1 on Tue Aug 29, 2006 10:44 pm

I was just wondering is it possible to convent my carbed 1992 1.1 fiesta to fuel injection?

You see my mate has a 1996 fiesta for parts and I was looking at the head and it seem to be the same as my 1.1.

So i can get all the parts for free.

Would there be any advantage doing this or even a disadvantage?

What would be involved in doing this? Is it just a matter off taking off the inlet manifold and throwing on the new injected one?

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I have the 1.1 injection version, and I'd be happy to go to carb. You have to change the tank(electrical fuel pump inside), the electrical loom+calculator, cat.and few other bits and after all you'll loose few HP.Not to mention the problems you'll encounter.

So,be happy with your carb!

My carb'ed 1100 was way better than any of the cfi one's I've had. The carb'ed one is five hp up as well.

I dont think that the car he has is a 1.1 but i might be wrong i have a feeling its a 1.25 but im not really sure the head looks the same as mine.

Would it be worth it.I can get all the parts for free and do all the work the only thing im not sure about would be the loom?

What is involved do i have to butcher my old loom and fit the whole other one or what?

Thanks

You're mad. The carbed version is a lot quicker, and a damn site more reliable.
