Re: Cookie's Mk3.5 Fiesta RS1800 UPDATE PAINTED 16/01/2015
Hi all,
its been a little bit of time since i posted. I have been busy with family matters, i have been fighting to see my two kids for over a year now and finally got to see them
Between this and working copious hours to fund my car I have managed to get bits done. I was not happy with the dash layout. So this has been customised. I was not happy with the position the the gearstick..... So this has been modified too..... sense a theme here?
So the dash.... well i wanted a more fitted dash to the driver. I make no excuses my inspiration came from being in my truck i decided to bring the dials closer towards the steering wheel and to wedge the centre console so it face the driver. the reason for this is to make reaching switches etc easier while in harnesses
here is the dash in progress. i know it looks crude atm hopefully this shows the shape tho. This will be prepped and flocked once finished.
The quickshift was a pain to change gear with the seat in .... I decided i wanted to raise the the stick in a box to allow 1. clearance from the seats and 2. a shorter reach from the wheel
While playing with these bits i have been shopping LOTS!!!
The engine is finally home and now ready for me to finish building. I have fitted the AT throttles and Bosch 470cc injectors!
I have bought a Kent Cams timing belt, full tensioner and pulley kit andnew cam pulley bolts. I also got some stainless studs and nuts for the inlet and brass nuts for the exhaust.
I have also bought a Dry sump tank, AN12 fittings and Stainless braided oil line for my dry sump system. heres a pic of my tank
I have also bought new indicator lenses, A lifeline 2000 plumbed in fire extinguisher and handheld for front.
Hopefully the engine will be subject to the engine test bed dyno soon ready to install in the car later on. Once the car is somewhat ready I will be starting the Gearbox build, to which i've decided to fit a Quaife ATB diff.

Re: Cookie's Mk3.5 Fiesta RS1800 Update 15/2/15
Just a quick update... here is a pic to show the layout of custom dash, gearshift tunnel Dropped steering coloum and seating arrangement
The engine is back home, had one drama in the fact the dry sump scavenge pump was in the wrong location que modifying! Lol
Next stop to the engine dyno to bed in and see how many ponies it makes.
Also mounted my lifeline fire extinguisher

Re: Cookie's Mk3.5 Fiesta RS1800 Update 15/2/15
The engine is gonna be somewhere between 250 and 300 bhp tho there is room to develop it further From what ever figure it reaches.
The cams come in at 3000 and off at 8400 but should be okay to 9000 that's on standard oil pump too dry sumped.
Depending on where peak torque is will determine my rev limiter.
Cars on hold atm. Just bought a house... but has a big workshop with an inspection pit so will soon be back in progress.sadly tho due too funds etc and time I think ford fair is a no go.. too ambitious maybe.

Re: Cookie's Mk3.5 Fiesta RS1800 Update 15/2/15
Hi everyone
Its been a while since I have posted. several reasons.... firstly me and my partner have BOUGHT! a house but its made for us, when i say us i mean me really hehehe it has a 25ft x 23ft workshop! cue the new mancave and home for my fiesta.
House renovation has been taking priority over the car but i have been tackleing bits where i can.
First off the car got moved, was not easy to move everything. due to the ammount of stripped bits ive decided to reassemble the car to figure out what i need, what i have to do and what i'm missing!
I have recently delt with the dry sump issues, the pump could not be located anywhere else, so I nabbed the position from the trolley and dare I say it copied it cheeRS Luke!
I put the carbon roof on CheeRS Raj top man!
i have cut the rear bumper short, and put tailgate back on temporarly while fitting both seat, helmet hammock and harnesses.
New wheels 16" Compomotive FR 8J with dunlop dirrezza dz02g track tyres, rare as hens teeth too!
the next issue is too finish the rear subframe No2 ... still independant but slightly different. Oh and fully rose jointed! ..... Sooooo that will now mean the whole car is rose jointed ! gonna be bumpy me thinks!
toying with some livery for the car, as it rally car inspired.... thoughts suggestions comments???

Re: Cookie's Fiesta - full out rally car! Update 9/8/15
Been a while since i posted, not alots happened as short on funds difficult times contemplaited selling it all but somehow its still here. I wasnt happy with the seats so i got a set of proper corbeau revolutions and have mounted them in fixed positions. the steering wheel position was awful so i have built a new column to allow better position and also allowed me to mount seat as far back as possible for weight distribution. Ive fitted the areocatches to the bonnet i tried the comp FR's to the car, they were a tad too wide with offset and width.... the solution ... modify the car! so i have made custom bodykit plugs ready to make a 1 off bodykit, as a result the bumpers have had to be cut and widened. the rear arches have been cut by about 3 inches and now give the whole wheel room to travel. didnt like the dash, threw it and started again. custom dash now being made. ive made a jig and remade the maxi axle now fully rose jointed.
on a plus new job 4 on 4 off, good money... theres hope to finish by july next year for ford fair, heres are a few pics of stuff thats gone on.
wider by 1.3/4 inch each side

Thanks, not one to shy from a challenge and as you say it will be different from others.
I think the maxi rear beam is going to be great on track as will prevent inner wheel lift and more control x corner weights.

Started the fabrication of my custom fibreglass dash. using 300g woven roving fibreglass for strength.
the cloth prior too resin
during
after
had to modify the kit i made, was a tad too wide and didnt look right over wheels. now to finish and prep to mould with 2x2 twill fibreglass cloth.
this is the twill cloth that I will make the kit from

It's been a long time since any update to this thread.
So what gone on and what's changed... lol
*The cars now painted by me. This time its better.
* it's now got a MTX 75 FRS gearbox and linkage meaning b&m has gone.
* the pedels are now installed on sliders
*dash has been flocked
There's a few more bit going on like bits being made etc but atm it's looking tho it could be done for ford fair this year!

Your car is looking great! When you were still using the bc gearbox, how did you make the gear linkage work after raising the height of the tunnel where the gear stick mounted?

I chopped the bar and modified so as to follow the contour of the tunnel. the bar did pivot side to side as no joints were fitted.
