Right - as for the rear conversion, Have got all of the parts from an RS2000 to fit to mine!
Fitting dont look to hard!
For front, i think that you need 4wd calipers and disks! ( i hope, just ordered some!!)
If you want i can email you a scaned FF with instruvtions of how to fit the above.
Just give me a shout!

Use Mondeo ST24 discs, not Cossie discs - the offset of the Cossie discs is wrong which is why you have to space the caliper out, whereas the Mondy discs should go straight on.

Exactly the same size as Cossie discs - I suspect they're an evolution of the Sierra Cossie kit which was gonna be the Mondy Cossie, but which was never made.
Mondy Ghia Si 4x4's use Cossie running gear too I think...?

15's is the absolute min for cossie breaks!!
If the ST24 disks are the same size, thenn unfortunatly you will need 15's!

its the caliapar that needs the clearance, disc size not important as long as they fit the calipar

damn, looks like it is a simple uprate of the discs and pads for me then, i can't afford bigger rims for a long while.

I have a set going complete with calipers from an FRST, have only been on car since aug and have pleanty of life in the pads due to not great seal of mileage being done!
They are :- Green stuff pads, 8 grooved vented (not x drillled) disks and FRST calipers,
Yours for say £70?

Would the same conversion work on a mk 4? Mine are solid 12mm thick discs. Was thinking of going for a big disc kit (like a 285mm) from hi-spec, but dont know if the standard callipers can be used with thicker vented discs (eg 20mm). And I don't really want to spend another 400 bucks on callipers.
Anyone got any suggestions??

ian.
are you useing green stuff pads?
they are that hard ,hence no dust that all the heat goes into the disc hence warping them.
project st2000.
what is the price difference between the st24 discs and cossie ones?
cheers guys.

Right then, can someone tell me exactly what you need to do this, as I want to upgrade the brakes on my car. The car is a 1.1 mk3.5. I know what your going to say but I want them ready for when I get some turbo power.
Coming soon!!!!

So.... You need mondy st24 discs, 4wd cossie calipers......and what else? Longer bolts I presume? What we need is a exact list of everything needed, so we can all rush out and buy the bits to do it
God knows I want lovely big discs on mine!

Higham - Mk4 calipers came in two lengths I think. As long as the caliper bolt spacing is the same (I should think it is), you won't have a major problem fitting them. Pad hardness contributes to disc warping but the main factor is how much heat the pads can dissipate through themselves, as well as their friction coefficient (I don't understand either - basically just how grippy they are). Get out there with a ruler and a jack and have some fun.
Daz - ST24 discs are the right offset for the calipers and you therefore don't need to use 5mm spacers on the bolts.

Has anyone here actualy got cossie disc and calipers on? If so what are they ie 278mm cossie 4x4 front discs with 2wd calipers etc. It seems everyone has an opinion but to save more expensive mistakes (like ianfrst buying a set of st24 disks that dont fit) can we hear from people who have done the conversion and know what parts they used.
Im not having a go at anyone. I just dont want to order a new set of grilled and drooved (?) discs and new calipers to discover Ive wasted me dosh!

I've fitted Cossie 4x4 callipers AND discs to my car. It's not exactly a FRST, but the running gear is standard FRST.
The 2wd discs have the wrong offset on them which means they don't fit.

Stephen

Why not PM Cubby, that's exactly what he's got on his 240.
