cossie brakes

Postby vx220 on Tue Sep 05, 2006 10:24 pm

hi,

i've read a couple of cossie brake conversion threads, here and elsewhere, but all seem to use single pot 4wd calipers.

can i use the 4 pot 2wd calipers? a mate is selling some re-con ones, but he's quite a way from me, so trying them is tricky.

if no-one knows, i'll try them (eventually) and post the answer!

Am afraid you cant use the 2wd 4pot calipers as the offset is different so they dont fit. Though ive heard of the some ppl modding them to fit on the S2 turbos but as regards to a fiesta i know they wont fit

You should be okay with the 4wd single pot calipers

Yes it has been done on mk3 fiesta and keeping 15" rims. Alot is involve and master cylinder is not up to the job.

For what I remember that when it was done:
- 4 pot sierra calipers dont have any thread
- you need to open a suitable thread on the hub
- check caliper aligment to disc
- can't say what discs were used
- brake lines will not bolt to it straight away

the braking was not that better than expected. It was better than 240mm std brakes thou.

unless you are relatively skilled and have a good array of metalwork tools stick to 4wd caliper spacers and 4wd discs

4x4 disks and calipers
space the calipers off ~4mm, from hub mounts using either a spacer of washers.
works a treat
