Sorry to hear that mate. Same comments above from me I'm afraid to say. Get some pics up though as S1 says, worth a look, may be salvagable.
BMW Diesels are pretty cheapo. E34 or an E36 can be had for pennys.

Ah crap! Bad news.
Don't loose the faith though, if it is write off, buy it back and re-build it, she deserves to be.

do a claim then
how old are you? insurance shouldnt be a problem on a diesel, on most cars infact, what you worried for
agree with rawli, a golf diesel or a 306 TD

As I said on Saturday mate, sorry to hear about the cars untimely demise
In all honesty mate it really isn't worth claiming for. Unless you have an agrred valuation they will do their upmost to stiff you. Losing your mums no claims also won't win you any favours so I would honestly recomend taking it on the chin and starting again.
You should be able to recover some of the value by breaking the car up.
I found when our 2i was written off the insurer refused point blank to allow us to retain the wreckage
If I can help at all mate feel free to dropm me a PM as I've been here myself

Really sorry to hear about this, was a very nice car. But theres no way id claim on a 1.1 fiesta, as said above just strip her sell or your bits and buy a shed to drive around in for winter, my sugestion is a mk3 fiesta 1800 diesel cheap as chips to buy and bloodt economical!!
Gareth.

So sorry to hear this Max. What a shame to see such a clean example go like this. Main thing is your ok though.
Insurance wise I think you shouldn't claim. I say this because if you have any no claims you should try and protect them from being taken away and starting again. Ok I know you will be losing money but also remember how much time and effort you put into that car.
Personally I would break it for parts and make as much back as you can that way. Or even fix it but as you have said you think it is twisted. Just remember the hidden charges they like to charge you for, such as excess and remember they will give you the book value of the car not what you said it is unless you have had it valued.
Such a shame to see this car go, glad your ok buddy.

sorry if someone has posted this as i didnt read all replys but you can either...
a) keep the vehicle at your premises and get them to come inspect it at your address.
b) you can claim i cant remeber the name of it but basically they give you an amount for your car, dont record it and you get to keep the vehicle. i was going to do this with my old saxo as work suggested it( i worked at nationwide) best bet would be to contact a bodyshop like nationwide and ask them for what its called to do this as from what i know they dont offer it out you have to ask for it.
c) my old xr2i was twisted and a cat B write off but they paid out 550 on her and she was A1 condition i played my face about how much they offered and they gave me the car for free but then recorded it as a cat B so i cudnt repair it.
never take first offer but never refuse the thrid offer
hope this makes sense

I realise you probably don't want to, but post some pics up and get the opinions of people in the know whether they reckon it can be fixed or not.

Sorry to here about this Max.
Don't bother claiming, you'll be out of pocket and lose your NCB.
Get some pics up ASAP as there is a lot of people on here that will be able to help you and advise if it's still repairable, it may well be hopefully fingers crossed.
If the car is not salvagable I would suggest either breaking the car for spares or getting hold of a decent shell and building a 2.0 Fiesta as you always intended to. If you decided to break it you should be able to buy something reasonable with the cash.

sorry to hear this just seen your car in ford mag doh
speaking from past experience when i wrote my mini turbo off, in the insurance eyes it was "just" a 1980 mini 1275 gt therefore worth 500 quid. what i did was told them to do one and got some samples of adverts for similar cars for sale and forwarded these to the insurance (cis incidentally), this ended up doubling what i eventually got and i kept the car. although the accident was not my fault so i would only recommend this if your parents force you to claim. if you can get away without claiming then break it and sell the bits to give your mum and dad some money back from it if that is why they want you to claim. everyone is a winner.
