CVH head complete revision + extra work ?

Postby Joris on Tue Aug 05, 2003 7:14 pm

I have a 60.000mile fiesta rs turbo cvh head here, it came of my previous engine, didn't smoke or nowt.

I would like to have this fully revised.
But also would like to maybe have it ported etc.
I'm only looking at running around the 180bhp mark when the car is finished. What would be the best way to go ? just standard revision or more work on head ?
I'd rather have more power with less boost ? And I think head work is the way forward anyway ?

I have a f**cked head on the car for the mo :s the seatings for 3 of the valve stem oil seals thingies are too big (actually metal flakes were hanging of them :s), was a fully revised engine from fords
So I can do with the old head what I want, then put it on the car and have the "new = f**cked" head send out to see if it is repairable.

Joris...

Buy the best head you can afford............. ie: Stage 3 gas flowed with bigger valves. Will cost around £450-£500+
There are obviously varitaions on that depending on how much u want to spend.

cheers :)

Any idea who would be best to trust the work too ?

I have to have it send from Belgium, so don't really care where in the UK, lol, will cost loads anyway :p

Didn't know best head was best too for low boost :D That's very interesting, so I can buy a really good one and that will be still good for higher power applications too :D

The basics.......... better flow = better power ....... simple. That goes for the head (IN) and exhaust (OUT).

There are lots of engineering firms that will do heads for you .........

Euro Engines : 01708 862806
Specialised Engines : 01375 378606

theres a couple in the UK.

yay and nae, velocity of the flow is important for low down grunt, stonkin hooge ports will do nowt for low down power, again if the rest of the engine aint got the rite spec aint gonna produce as much power, head flow, stepped/matched/dowelled ports, intake temp which will dictate how much boost u can run its a combo of gettin everything rite that will get u reliable power spk to someone who has experiance of turbo heads and the cvh, n/a`s have diff flow characteristics, mine was flowed to spec of the cam, and wasn`t touched that much to be honest lol, still got 196bhp@.9 bar boost
