DITTO!
Sunny.
Do you have any idea what 178.8mph feels like in a Fiesta? 2000 lb of pressure per square inch per second pushing back on your face. It feels like god himself is trying to rip the skin off your skull while someone lands a 747 on your chest.

I thought the RS1800's were rated at only 130 PS, whereas the mondy 2.0 was rated at 136 PS. Also Ford 'Tuned' the 130 engines (they originally came from 115PS) whereas the XR2i's have the 105PS engines. If you were to take the Mondy 2L and carry out similar modifications you would get more usuable power, filter and exhaust and you should see 145BHP, I've seen 152BHP from just a filter and exhaust.
Don't get me wrong the CVH is a great engine and can produce great figures but the Zetec-E is a far superior engine, what lets them down all the time is the emission systems and Fords bloody intake/exhaust designs!
(But thank god Fords learning (Focus)!
So therefore if you were to take a 1.6 CVH, and place it against a 1.6 Zetec-E, removed the emission controls on the Zetec, I believe the Zetec would win. Against a Zetec-SE engine of the same capacity not a hope, sorry.
I've never heard of a Zetec engine being called weak before, and the only cylinder head problems arise from a coolant failure and the head warping, which would probably happen in the CVH as well. So the weak points on the Zetec are thermostats, water pumps, and those pesky rod end bolts (hiss). Plus the MTX75 Transmissions can handle up to 300BHP before you have to mod em, so it can't be a bad thing!

just one thing to say which everyone has ignored
Go and build the quickest naturally aspirated CVH and quickest 1600 zetec lump, and cane em down santa pod
then we'll all know
on paper, the standard 105bhp XR2i will cane the 90bhp Si 16v
