CVH31 Vs CVH34

Postby maysaXr2i on Sat Feb 03, 2007 10:32 pm

i tried to do a serch but couldnt really find any info.

i am ordering a head but i cant decide which of the cam kits to go for. I dont want balls out power because tbh i wont get to make the most of it as it will be a weekend car.

Want something fun on the twisty roads but as i have a T3 i dont want anything with too high a power band etiher.

other spec is FMIC, mahle pistons, new std rods, ARP bolts, felpro head gasket. On the lookout for a set of beige injectors and a chip too.

Anyone had expeience of both?

I enjoyed my CVH34 with my 1600 engine and it was really good low end with the 1900 lump (although a CVH35 would suit a 1900 lump better I think!).

I had one already fitted in my FRST when I bought it and I never had any problems with it and no wear problems (it's for sale now in fact along with the FRST cylinder head for the princely sum of £100!).

I'd say get one :)

Cheers,

Andy

Nope - I'd recommend buying one if I didn't have one for sale as well!

I think alot of people have had problems due to not running it in properly after fitting and not changing the tappets at the same time.

Cheers,

Andy

well i had a decent set of tappets in the head when i brought it but i stripped it down in the garage. Over christmas the roof leaked all over my bench and when i went back in there they were all rusty so i will be getting the kit with everything in it lol

I run a CVH35 in my S2 and my brother runs one in his FRST. We find the delivery of power very nice. As soon as it comes on boost the car just flies. Would be my recomendation if you have the T3 in place

the cvh31 is basically a standard item. The 34 is a fast road cam and was designed by Ahmed Bayoo, it gives an improvement of about 20bhp helps mid range performance but still allows a nice idle without chipping etc. The 35 is for fast road / race and depending on setup you may suffer at low revs improves my approx 26-29bhp.

I run a 34 Kit with K&N, Stainless System, Vernier Pulley & Dump Valve. This runs fine at all speeds and allows for normal driving at low revs or more power when I give a bit of right foot!

The chaps at Well Lane Turbo Centre, Burton Power & Kent Cams all told me this was the best cam if I was using on road on a daily basis.

Cheapest price I found was from Larkspeed and got delivered from Kent the next day!

Forgot to add that you don't need to change the springs for fitting the 34 kit but you will need the lifters

cheers people. I did look at the 35 buti cant see myself getting the full benefit from it. At the moment it looks like the 34 is winning.

Trust me when I say (with the backing of a lot of pros) the 34 is the best kit if you are running standard ecu for a bit and even when you upgrade it was designed to give the best response for road use.
