De-cat ? What is it ?

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

I saw some posts the other day about improving the humble 1.1i and sumone said about de-cat, what is it and what does it do ?
I have a peco back box and drilled airbox if thats any help ?

cus ur car is post '94 it has a catalist so it stops harmful emissions coming from ur engine, though only prob with it is that it slows u down considerbly, get a de-cat or a cat by-pass and it will get rid of it. only thing is make sure u put it back before the MOT cus u mite fail it with high emissions.

Unfortunatly unless you declare your "De-CAT", you also invalidate your insurance.

I took the cat out of my SI, utter waste of time plus it's hassle at MOT time :rolleyes:

I seriously wouldn't bother.... not wanting to sound rude but it is only a 1.1 afterall, it's never gonna be a rocketship.

As above, spend your money elsewhere, you'll see more fun out of some alloys or stereo gear
