Decent Mk3 weld in cage
Does anyone on here have a decent quality weld-in cage in their Mk3?
Where was it from and what did it cost? Pictures would be great!
Cheers,
Mark

Havent got one, but I would have it..

Think its around 650 to buy it and then you fit it, or around double that for them to fit it.

Custom Cages would be the people to go to for sure... they have plenty of options from mega FIA spec items to smaller 'kit' items - so if you just want a basic 6 point cage with door bars and a rear diagonal you can have it...
Have had a couple of kits from them to fit in to other cars (couple of tigra's mainly) and the quality is awesome - difficult to get right but well worth it in the end!

Thats fiesta one above, you need to cut the roof off like shown in the picture to weld it

Correction... to weld it properly.
Unless its going to be scrutineered for some form of motorsport you will get away with welding as far around the joints as you can possibly reach - cutting roofs / changing roof skins can get very expensive very quickly!

whats the point in having a cage if its not going to be installed properly, if it is not fully welded then if the worst does happen and its needed it could turn from a safety feature into a death trap very quickly with the sort of forces that are normally absorbed by a well built roll cage!
changing a roof skin isnt the hardest job in the world its just a bit time consuming to get it all done and for the sake of a properly welded in cage no hassel at all if you do ever need the thing.

I thought this aswell, but removing the skin would make it a bit easier

It would certainly be easier, and probably better for a competition car. But it is possible to leave it there and weld it fairly easily. It just takes a very short TIG torch!

Custom cages are whom you need to speak with.
I have a variation of a cage they do as you can spec which pieces you want, or go for the whole cabooodle.

I've had my my shell apart at most of the seams and re-engineered it to fit this underneath:
The roof skin won't present me with a big challenge
Thanks for the input, guys.
