Diesel Mk3 to FRST conversion possible?

Postby heeman10 on Mon Nov 25, 2002 8:16 pm

I didn't know where to post this, so have posted in Tech Probs too:

I've got a Diesel Mk3, and wondered what would be necessary to stick a FRST engine in? Would the gearbox take it? Approximate cost of installation? I wouldn't be able to do it myself, and am just curious at the mo, as I love my car, it's just it's a LITTLE ( ) slow. thanks.

Antvan (posts on here once in a blue moon and I think also on iowcars.demon.co.uk or something like that) has done this same conversion.

You'll need to replace fuel lines, tank, full engine, management, exhaust, cooling system, but the diesel gearbox and running gear will be good for the job - the diesel gear ratios are very long, so you may find that you get better top speeds, etc, with the diesel g/box ;)
