different gearbox for xr2i?

Postby mk3dean on Sat Sep 30, 2006 1:02 am

hi,

i went to a rolling road the other week(102bhp but bad air to fuel mixture, running rich up to 3500rpm :( ) and the rr man was telling me he races a xr2, and that he put a diesal(sp) gearbox in.
he said that the top speed is only 110mph but gets there quick with the lower ratios, plus with few mods as well(cams, exhaust, ect)

plus i belive my gearbox is on its way out

so my question is:
is there a better box i can put on my xr2i to improve my 0-60/0-100, but lose top end?

or will they not make a difference?

Cheers

Bloke is talking out of his fat hairy ring!

Putting a diesel box in would completely stunt the cars performance. Putting a diesel box in RST's is bad enough but at least they have some torque

Definately stick to the XR box. Or sling a S2 box in and get the bonus of an LSD. If you can find a S1 box the final drive isn't quite as high so it's a bit better for sprinting and the LSD is harsher
