Dipstick Tube

Problem or technical question?

Dipstick Tube

Postby RS EDDIE on Tue Mar 05, 2013 1:10 pm

Ok.....Pulled my old dipstick tube out to replace with a brand new one (why i dont know!!).

Tried to fit the new one and it was a very tight fit, so i had a scrape around the hole. Some "collared" shaped swarf fell out almost carbon looking but a perfect fit around the hole recess.

Now the new diptube is a sloppy fit and is just spinning around and pulls out very easily.

THE QUESTION IS THIS...

Is there a collar that is fitted first which then enables a tight push fit for the new tube or is it gna be a case of buying a pushfit collar from elsewhere?? :D

Should be a tight fit in there, I've never come across any form of collar before.
I had to beat my tube back int the block when I refitted it, and I could/can still turn it a little even now.

When I last refitted it, I did out some sealant over it then beat it back in.
