Disc Rear Brakes
I'm sure this is an area that's been covered plenty, but I'm hoping someone can help. Is there a guide anywhere on the site about doing the conversion to rear discs on a MK3? I've had a search but not really found a guide telling you how to do it.
Currently building up a MK3 racing car at work, and was wondering what's involved, as the guy doing the driving is insistent on us fitting them to it, even though I don't think it's really necessary! The car could well get a bias valve so we can balance it out, and we will no doubt be improving the front set up (it has RST stuff currently) so balance shouldn't be an issue.
I've heard of the FC kit to convert it, but it isn't exactly cheap to be honest, and I've also heard about using RS2000 bits, but not seen a guide on how to do it, so if anyone can point me in the right direction of what's needed, then it would be greatly appreciated

Cheers Jon. Is Neil registered on here? I could always give him some abuse I know one of the mags did a guide on a conversion at one point, but I think that was using the FC kit, and RS2000 beams aren't too pricey now, and I have a spare set of calipers floating about anyway, so it would be more cost effective I think.
Jamie, I have looked into the ZS rear end, but I'm not sure the regs will allow us to make the change, think we need to stick to standard MK3 stuff, which is a shame, as apparently the ZS beam makes a good difference to the feel of the car.
Sadly my background is very much Escort based, so I'm not up on the finer details of Fiesta modifying

Re: Disc Rear Brakes
if you go for the fiesta center kit then i can advise as much as you want as i have that kit.
but tbh, i wouldnt listen to what the driver is saying, belive me, the drums are 100% fine for the race car and tbh, the drums will prob be better than the rear disc, although i have disc on the back, its more of a look thing, as to me the drums worked far better and i would advise saving your money just over all the back drums with new cyclinfders shoes and if they need it, new drums them self

Re: Disc Rear Brakes
i agree with jayrs they really don't need it
i have the fiesta centre kit and it worked pretty well after i fitted a bias valve. with out it they where usless in the wet, they where locking up every time i tryed to use them hard, made my willwood 4pots on the front usless too, its always trying to swop ends
after the bias valve was fitted it felt loads better and much safer when i use them hard
you can see them in my thread

I don't especially want to listen, but if he's paying, well, kind of have to
We'll see though, will go back and see what's what, but if it happens, RS2k gear sounds the most cost effective. Just the fronts to sort then!
