Disintegrating engine mount rubbers

Postby XR2iT on Tue Mar 04, 2003 9:21 am

I have problems with the engine mounts as they just don't last. The car is a rally car so it doesn't do many miles although they are hard ones. The engine is jumping forward and damaging the radiator. I am fitting 1800 diesel mounts as I am advised these will last longer but is their another solution?

http://www.burtonpower.com but I they don't have any mounts listed online so your best bet is to get on the dog and give them a buzz.

standard ones are fine upto a point, then it aint worth the risk of them snapping under heavy load, then u need vibra`s

putting diesel mounts on seems a bit silly to me... yeah they might be a little bit heavier duty, but theyre softer to let the engine wobble more - therefore under load the engine will move more... meaning that they have to only be a little bit worn before the engine moves enough to start causing problems

I second that, i've never had a problem with standard mounts, mines only 160bhp but they have been fine.
Mate had vibra ones on his frst for a year and after that they were fecked, it wasn't cained either.
The engine will move less with them, but at £40+ each me personally don't think they are worth it :-? :(

get yer car on the rollers with 180+bhp and watch the engine move, then u will see the advantage :P , keeps the engine and box stable, their are 2 compounds that vibra sell, make sure u get the right one.

The diesel are not softer than the ones that came in my car. the reccomendation came from the guys at Falkland performance after they consulted a Fiesta racer. i was just getting a wider opinion.
