Its only 200cc more so the std loom and ECU will be fine but get it on a rolling road after to seeif the fueling is ok
Now driving a 1999 Audi S3 with 2.1 20v OD HTAGT3582r Turbo

Bring on the 650+Bhp 4x4 monster

The xr2i runs external EDIS and the Mondeo ECU's ahve internal EDIS so the mondeo ECU wont work with the 2i loom. You could change over to the Si loom which has internal EDIS or you will have to use an RS1800 ECU.

s'up to you mate

i ran a 2.0 ltr with a 1.8 RS1800 management (ie loom and ECU) then changed it to a full si loom with 2.0 ltr ECU.

The latter was a 100% improvement

getting mixed opinions here, if I was to use the original loom for a small amount of time would it be ok and if so what ecu would I need to use? Could I use the 2i loom and ecu to get her running ok?

Well i'll say it again for the hard of reading :D

I ran a 2.0 ltr with a 1.8 RS1800 management (ie loom and ECU) then changed it to a full si loom with 2.0 ltr ECU.

The latter was a 100% improvement

It ran with the 1.8 management (ie RS1800 ECU, 1.8 injectors and 1.8 16v external EDIS loom hard wired into the existing 8v car loom, modified 2.0 ltr throttle body and a 1.8 MAF in a 2.0ltr MAF housing) but, it was ropey as hell so.....

i sourced a complete 1.6 si 16v loom, changed the entire loom (ie car and engine loom), used a 2.0 ltr DEEP ECU with matching 2.0 MAF and 2.0 ltr injectors.

Now runs like it should, smooth and bloody quick.

You can modify the existing loom to work on an internal EDIS ecu (there's a guide to the pin swaps required on this forum) but you should always match the ecu to the engine.

ok cool how hard is it to change the loom as this is the only part that im worried about! All other bits seem fine and im doing all that tomorow but ive never done a loom before. How long does it take to do and do roughly? Also how do I know what ecu to go for as Ive brought the engine minus loom and ecu?
