just wondering if the strut base is the same diameter or smaller?

Back yes, front no. The strut diameter is larger on Mk3.5 cars.You can swap the hubs over though from an earlier car though to open your options up to lots more quality suspension kits.

I couldn't say whether you would need to swap wishbones over as well though

well going only on the fact ian howells sells 2 types of adjustable arms, i can only assume that is the case..

i guess that is an option, but one ill have to decide before i get my lower arms.

I think another factor was the hubs on the mk3.5 being bigger because of some models having power steering.

If you swop the hubs, I think you need to swop the drive shafts as well.
