Does the Bluefin work for an Si?

Postby James_Si on Wed Mar 23, 2005 11:20 pm

Hi all :P , quick question.

Would a Bluefin work on a 1994 M reg 1.6 Si? :-?

If i used a chip, could i get a bhp and torque increase, how much?

I know the limitations of the Si are it's head. But what is possible, what have other's achieved and how?

no bluefin does'nt work on Si's

if you get a chip of course it will increase torque and bhp, but different on every car, depends on what mods you have etc

things you need to think about
decat,
induction kit with good cold air feed
cat back exhaust system,
2.0 throttle body
cams,
ported and polished head,
remap

or get a 1.8 or 2.0 zetec in there with bigger power gains and alot cheaper than the above,

Cheers for that, exactly what i needed to know. :D

I've got cat-back exhaust.
Probablly going to get a Pipercross Viper induction kit.

Would the throttle body be off a Mondeo or a Focus? How easy is it to fit and would it mean massive fuel consumption?

A set of Piper cams probablly would cost quite a bit.

How much would it cost to port and polish the head?

This is can be done but i'm guess that it would cost around £1000?

So here's the question that would decide it.

How much does it cost to under-go a FULL 2.0 Zetec conversion? :-?

This would include the cost of EVERYTHING, the engine, laybour, addition upgrades, e.t.c.

Thanks :)

I would say its about £800 to get a 2.0 put in, but it can be done for less if you shop around for parts etc.

Just for a note on your plan above, my piper cams and pullys cost over £700

buy a low mileage mondeo from salvage auctions, don't think it will cost more then 150 and rip the engine out
