dont leave a blanket in the engine bay
i had to go and buy this the other day after killing my xr/rs rep. i had left a blanket in the bay because of the cold weather and forgot about it. Luckily i managed too save all the recaros, smooth boot, alloys, arches, skirts and the zetec s rear bumper. this is all now being fitted to the new car above. need to find a n/s/f arch and a front bumper as they were hadit.

Ouch! I've heard of that practise before. I think I'll stick with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze

Re: dont leave a blanket in the engine bay
yes that could be a good idea. it had a slight water leak so had to keep topping it up so was probably mostly water. so kept a blanket in during those really cold nights we had. bad mistake. but on the bright side the new one has less miles on it and is just as clean as the old one.

Re: dont leave a blanket in the engine bay
yea it was abit frightning. i pulled up to the roundabout and it cut out then noticed smoke coming from the edge of the bonnet so pushed it onto the grass verge. i then told me daughter to get out as could see the bonnet starting to go black and i knew that was it. luckily there was 2 traffic cars on the roundabout aswell, they stopped and tried too put it out with exstinishers but called fire brigade. could of been much worse i was in a petrol station 5 mins before. and my wife had asked me too go somewhere else so changed my route. i was going to go along a dual carrigeway so would of been doing 70mph. the brake resevior was gone completely when looking after. so could of been 70 with no brakes. fate was on my side beleave it or not.
already getting atached to new car gonna do a few thing different with it. will keep putting pics on.

i was going to find xr/rs bumper for it, but you have got me thinking now with the satin black. it would look abit mk2 xr2ish. the wheels were a birthday prezzie from the wife they are the 15" rs2000 ones.

Re: dont leave a blanket in the engine bay
yea ive always thought si bumpers are smoother looking than the xr ones. just need to decide weather to use the back one and get read of the zetec s one. would give me a nice smooth back end, but its what to do with the number plate and light.
