jesus, not looked at this thread in a few days and come back and thinking why has this thread turn into a sl@ging match?
in fact dont answer it as it will go more off topic , when threads used to go off topic people were warned and the thread locked, why has it been allowed to carry on resulting in, and im guessing by heemans response, someone getting blocked/banned when theres more than 1 involved and its just a express of different peoples opinions at the end of the day, wouldnt do for everyone to be the same
anyhow, back on topic, any luck with any thing mate? (luke_mk3_st)

Ruishy1 :welders get paid decent money mate, get yourself to college and get your BS coding, you will be earining 10 quid an hour in no time
Depends if you want to be travelling and happy to be on tempory contracts, thats where the money is. if the works still there that is.
Not much about in this country at the moment, well there isn't in the North West/North Wales anyway. We had 40 people apply for one postion recently

Re: dont mean to depress anyone
bit of a downy upy turn for me in the job front, after goin job centre last monday, they i went in to sort out the fact i got work now, and im not aloud to now.... im on"stage three" which basicly means theyll pay for new training!!
told him streight away door card licence and sia, just so happens they got a course so yesterday went down and enrolled, should bee 600 quid for the course, including the fee for the acuall sia licence,
when i gt down there im aloud a maximum of 70 glh which means guided learning hours,
so im doing
biiab door supervisor certificate and sia licence
biiab level 2 cctv certificate
first aid certificate(because my old certificate runs out in feb)
all of which i get for free, im ment to pay 200 quid for the sia licence, but he said sumat about having a bursary, of 300 quid, to use on getting t interviews and interview clothes, and stuff like that, told him to bollox to all that cos i got enuf suits anyway for weddings, court, interiews the lot, and can get about and that i wan the bursary put towards my certificate!!!
so yeah worst comes to worst, if uve been out of work for more than 6 months, u should be put on to training, unlything is im guessing that different courses wil be done at different colleges, with brighton theres 2 huge universitys and around 6-8 colleges so thers a whole verioty of different skills to choose from
worth a go,

thats good to hear mate congrats
i got an ILA and it paid for the basic half of my welding course, ive paid for the other half myself but its only 200 quid with a 50 quid fee at the end to get tested for coding.
if anyone wants to go to night school get an ILA, it helps.

Re: dont mean to depress anyone
It doesnt matter what skills you have, you will start at the bottom of the pile. Its a fact of working life you need to earn your experience to go up the ranks to get the better money. There is no fast way to do it ..... well i dont know of any.
I went to college, then i started as a trainee technician .... on £4800 per year!! But i worked away and eventually moved company, still doing the same trade but the onsite training and work was much better and more technical. This gave a huge boost to my CV.
If you want to be a mechanice, stick at it and push yourself to get back into it. But remember, you will start at the bottom.

Re: dont mean to depress anyone
just an update
i successfully completed my first aid course
i started my door supervisers/sia course monday had my first test today and passed got 2 more days to do, and thursday got my second test, and if i pass it, ill be a certified door superviser
so this evening after being chuffed on passing, thought ied scout for a job, on the doors in brighton,, found an ad, rang it, and got chatting, explaining im not yet qualified, but if i pass on thursday, all ill have to do is wait for my id to come threw then can start,
got chatting about the jobs role, and about the "new venue" they in the middle of refurbishing , which wont be finished untill april, around the same time i should get my id`s
he wanted to know my age,,22,,my height,,6ft,2 1/2in size, athletic lol not a big berly bruiser, but certainly can hold my own,,,
and explained that my tutor, BEST GUY IN THE WORLD, UNBELIVEABLE MENTOR, had explained everything perfectly, giving a new way of life for future doormen, stating that way of words is easyer to difuse a situation, rather than punching the s**t out of them,, so he asked, who he was,,,, told him,,,,
hhe said just by me saying who my tutor is, has got me the job alone, as he knows that if my tutor has taught me, i will be perfect for the role, as he is going to change the steriotypical views of doormen, in brighton, as here all hired muscle basicly,, and that he wants people to join, who can demonstrate a positive approch to customers alike,
an so has offord me the job ive only spoken to him over he fone for around 5 minutes, soon as my id`s turn up,ive to turn up to the venue that night to get kitted out and shown the ropes,
what a result and also im doing cctv next week, which is taught by my tutor, so means ive got an even beter approchable cv,,,
really is a turn up for the books, and the new venue is a "vodka revolution" so mans top line acts, most of the night, with a high reputation for a bar, plus the missus is finaly trained after her promotion, and shes in the job she wants(actually locking up, looking after and keeping safe the illegal imigrants) so its been an agonising strugle these 9 months, but good things come to those who wait

Re: dont mean to depress anyone, WHAT A LOAD OF s**t!
well i got my letter about the aa job saying i have the job but im on hold.... as there is noone else for me to van swap with in my area! a few days before i got a phone call from the top guy saying if you no some who lives near you and is qualified etc then send him to me cus it will sort it out. so i sent my good friend down there who is 5 years older than me and has worked in more places then me has more experience and also is level 3 city and guilds qualified. so he went off for there assesment day. passed the computer test. flew through the practical test and the interview. today he gets a phonecall to tell him his not been successfull as he doesent have sufficent experience!!!!! "he has more then me" he easily easily has the experience for the job. the guy told him he passed everything etc but "somebody" basicaly doesnt think he can do it. so now im still on hold and they had someone there but didnt take him on because "someone" thinks he cant do it even tho he proved himself on there assesment and has references to also back him up! doesnt make any sense. and im trying to say i cant wait around on hold forever i have no money! urgh these companys!

Re: dont mean to depress anyone, WHAT A LOAD OF s**t!
sounds like a right pain in the ar$e mate.
many moons ago my dad went for a job with the AA, passed everything and the guy basicly said he had the job, only to find he had been successfull.......
who knows what the reasons are behind these companys, maybe he was ideal for the job but they thought he would want more money than there willing to pay...???
